Cynthia Booher, PhD, RN, CNE, FAADN

Dr. Cynthia Booher is a distinguished leader in nursing education and the current Dean of the School of Nursing at Charter College in Anchorage, Alaska.

With over 20 years of experience spanning clinical practice, academic leadership, and curriculum innovation, Dr. Booher brings a wealth of expertise to the nursing profession. Her career includes impactful roles such as Director of Nursing at Providence Health & Services and Assistant Professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage. She earned her PhD in Nursing Science from the University of Phoenix, and her contributions have been widely recognized for advancing nursing education and practice.

Dr. Booher is the creator of the Clinical Reasoning Teaching Method, a groundbreaking approach now adopted in multiple nursing programs. This method equips pre-licensure nurses with the cognitive tools to move beyond traditional critical thinking and begin applying true clinical reasoning while still in training—preparing them to meet the complex demands of modern healthcare with confidence and clarity.

Driven by a deep passion for student success without compromising standards, Dr. Booher is a tireless advocate for excellence in nursing education.

Outside of her professional accomplishments, she is a proud mother of a nationally ranked powerlifter and shares her home with three dogs and one cat. She enjoys live theater, concerts, movies, and staying active through regular workouts.
