The purpose of this year's symposium is to advance the science of professional identity formation, embodiment, and transformation forward. We will convene virtually this year to ensure that all nurses can engage, meeting in convivial symposium fashion to advance the field of professional identity in nursing together.

Join us for an interactive symposium to learn about the latest developments in the science of Professional Identity in Nursing. Engage in creating the future directions of practice, policy, research, and education. Sponsored by the International Society for Professional Identity in Nursing (ISPIN), this virtual conference welcomes all US and international nurses and students, to learn and engage with the Professional Identity in Nursing initiative.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the difference between professional identity and professionalism.​

  2. Discuss the status and future application of the Professional Identity in Nursing Scale (PINS 2.0).​

  3. Discuss the [how] or next steps to advance the science and adoption of the concept of Professional Identity in Nursing.

  4. Identify strategies to enhance collaboration to foster Professional Identity in Nursing in practice, policy, research, and education.​

  5. Identify issues related to transitioning from socialization thinking to professional identity thinking.
