Rhoda A. Owens, PhD, RN
Dr. Rhoda Owens is an Associate Professor and the Interim PhD in Nursing Program Director at the University of North Dakota, College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines, Grand Forks, ND, where she teaches graduate-level courses and advises and mentors PhD in Nursing students.
Previously, she was an Assistant Professor and site manager for Williston State College in Minot, ND, teaching undergraduate didactic, clinical, and lab courses. Practice experience before entering her academic career includes hospital supervisor, urgent care, surgical, medical, pediatric, home health/hospice nursing, and professional development. She holds PhD and MS degrees from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND. Dr. Owens is the President of the International Society for Professional Identity in Nursing. In addition, she is a member of the American Nurses Association, North Dakota Nurses Association, North Dakota Nursing Research Collaborative, Midwest Nursing Research Society, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Dr. Owens' research focuses on pressure injury prevention, adult learning theory, nursing education pedagogy, nursing workforce intent to stay and work satisfaction, and professional identity in nursing. She has published her research in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presented her research topics at numerous local, state, and national conferences.
